Understanding the legal side of your big day
Navigating the legal requirements for your wedding might seem daunting, but it's simpler than you think!
This page will clarify the whole process for you, ensuring you can focus on the joyous celebration ahead, so your journey to "I do" is as smooth as possible.

The essential legal steps for marriage in the UK
To be legally married in the United Kingdom, there are just two very quick and straightforward steps you need to complete with your local Registrar first.
These are usually done in a matter of minutes, and are both inexpensive.
You can find more information and locate your local Registrar at www.gov.uk
Step 1. GIVING NOTICE OF MARRIAGE
This must be done at least 29 days before your ceremony at your local Registry Office.
Here you will be required to provide your personal details, and any documents that prove your identity, your nationality and marital status.
Step 2. REGISTERING THE MARRIAGE
You'll wait another 28 days after your ceremony, and then make one further appointment with your local Registrar to legally (and that's the important part) register your marriage,
and that's it!
